Chocolate Churro Muddy Buddies

I love Muddy Buddies as much as the next person. The problem is I like the “purist” kind. The kind with Peanut Butter. Seeing that my youngest has a peanut allergy, those are a hard no in our home. I did find this recipe on A Dash of Sanity that does not include peanut butter, and has flavors everyone likes here. I made a couple adjustments, so if you want the original please refer to the original.

Chocolate Churro Muddy Buddies

9 cups of Chex cereal

5 tablespoons of butter

1 1/4 cup confectioners sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup granulated white sugar

1 tablespoon cinnamon

additional cinnamon to top

3/4 cup cinnamon chips

1/2 cup chocolate chips

~In a Brown Paper Bag combine the confectioners sugar, brown sugar, granulated white sugar, and cinnamon.

in the bag

I gave the bag a little shake to break up the bits. I then double bagged the mix so that it wouldn’t seep out.

~Combine cinnamon chips, chocolate chips, and butter into a microwave safe bowl.

~Microwave for 1 minute

Stir until smooth. I don’t know if it was due to the cinnamon chips but I needed to add another tablespoon of butter. You don’t want this mix to be fudgy. You’re going to be stirring it with cereal, so it needs to be smoother.

~Once chocolate mix is at correct consistency combine with cereal.

mixed with cereal

Don’t be aggressive with the stirring. I used a spatula and kept folding in the chocolate mix.

~Now pour the cereal into the brown bag, and SHAKE IT! Make sure the bag is really folded over, unless you want a sugar cloud in the kitchen!

shaken up

Look at that! Ugh, nom nom!

Store in a air sealed container, zipbloc bag. Definitely a tasty treat for your family!
