Work it Wednesday!

So for today, I managed to get to the gym ALL pumped that I had an hour training session. I walked past my trainer and gave a friendly wave as I jogged upstairs for a warm up. I was thrilled as I got my heart pumping for 10 minutes and raced downstairs. Well, apparently I was a half hour late!!! LA Fitness sends emails for when you have training. I assumed that the email I first got was for my earliest time that was set up. Wellllll, WRONG! Ooops?

No matter, it was a great work out! My trainer was also gracious enough to take the missed half hour off the books and add it on for Friday!! Wohoo!!!

So for Work it Wednesday, I figured I would share one of my FAVORITE motivators. When I do my cardio, or don’t have my trainer I listen to FIT Radio. They have a website here, but I use the App. The have heart pumping music that makes me want to push myself so much harder. They have a variety of music, so I can assure you, boredom won’t happen!

With that being said. It was just a housework busy day! I was overwhelmed with laundry, and it was pouring out! We finally got our HVAC system completely rezoned out, so that will be more efficient. Finally for a healthy dinner I made salmon for dinner. The grocery story had beautiful filets of wild Alaskan salmon on sale, so I couldn’t resist!! Here is the recipe we love:

With that I’m off!!

Five on Friday!

1. I have been on a weight loss journey that I started last year. Last year I had lost 15 pounds but gained about 20 with everything that happened with my Mom. There wasn’t much exercising going on in the hospital people! I have reached that weight again and am only pushing forward! Even though some days I feel like my body parts are going to fall off, I know the end result will be amazing! Ignore the mess below, Alex is a challenge 😉

Work in progress

2. The kids and I have been working on a bucket list for the summer. They are itching to go to the beach, dinosaur parks, and a lot of frozen yogurt. Our list keeps growing and I know it will be so different having them home with me for a few months! If anyone has tips on what they do with their kids on summer break, I’m ALL ears!

3. I’ve been reading Eli’s cousin’s book Enthralled by Rebecca S. It is very well written, and definitely a more adult vampire novel. I am hoping to wind down reading it with a glass of wine tonight! Check it out here:

I hope to write a full review when I finish!

4. We have been looking at relocating, and it is EXHAUSTING. Checking out school systems, proximity to town centers, proximity to Eli’s business, neighborhoods, and PRICES!!! Connecticut’s shoreline is not cheap, and we are looking for a forever home. I’m sure I’ll chronicle more on here, but after looking at over 10 homes so far, I’m mentally drained.

5. I am having birthday present envy! Alex has a birthday party to attend tomorrow, so of course I went shopping today. I went to Lakeshore Learning,  and was immediately loving the selection of educational toys! After some browsing and very helpful service I bought these:

games Bugs Building is a child friendly Jenga. The difference is, there is a dice with the game and you can only remove the color you roll. I had been looking at this game for awhile, and knowing the birthday boy he will love it! The other selection is Spot it Jr! This game is all about finding the match on another card. Its compact, which is great for traveling, and keeps the brain going. Hopefully, its a hit, and it will be a reminder that I need to buy these!! Currently we’re on a Monopoply Junior and Uno streak in our house. Both family dividing games, but the boys love playing!

Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

The one where I took a hike.

This cold I have been battling for 2 weeks has legitimately kicked my butt. I can buy stock in Kleenex, and don’t remember what its like to be not congested. Bleck.

I haven’t let it slow me down this week. Making sure that I got myself back into the gym has been achieved. My trainer looked hesitant to come near me but I got that workout in! I also made sure to get outside since its been gorgeous out there! We have lived in our house for 7 years and I finally decided to start exploring some hiking trails near us. First stop: the supply ponds nearby! It was very tranquil. and there were loads of leash free dogs around. I don’t know if I would take either of our pups leash free on the trails, but I’m definitely bringing them.

Blanket green Brook turtle!Trails just seem less boring to me. I get so sidetracked when I’m walking the neighborhood. On the trail, there are no cars swerving around you, pavement, or endless homes, just you and the crunch of the ground.

Connecticut seems to have an endless amount of hiking trails in my nearby area. I’m sure in the future you  will be seeing more of this!

Major realization of the week: I have completely slacked on working. I’m supposed to be managing Eli’s office. Well, I haven’t. I have worked on a website for the company, marketing, and customers, but all out of the office itself. I felt unmotivated, and I HATE paperwork. So, now I’m shackled (figuratively of course!)in the office doing paperwork. It feels like self punishment from slacking. 3 hours later , I have a desk again!

officeBehold how I look when congested, tired, and in need of getting my hair done. However, one of the better parts of working at home. I can sing at the top of my lungs in my office! Currently, I’m jamming out to the Smash soundtrack. I miss that show!

With all of this being said,, I just saw another pile of paperwork calling my name. Balance folks, its ALL about balance! Besides, theres still laundry, dishes, and I’m sure more!

Getting things done with lists…

I think all working moms can relate to how much more we get done when we have limited time. When we only have a couple hours, or the weekend, we can prioritize ten times better. Being at home now feels more like this:

I feel like I have ALL day to get house work done, yet it doesn’t. Is it laziness, no motivation, or feeling like there is more time than there is? Actually, I think its organization, with a sprinkle of motivation. I have found lists like this:

on pinterest and yes, I’ve used them. A lot more gets done when I use them. Sometimes I stick to the good ole check list. The night before I evaluate what I really want to get done the next day and make a list. The next day it almost feels rewarding to check off what was done. This is not to say by the end of the day I don’t feel like this:

Anyone notice pinterest owns me? Damn you Pinterest.

As I have now procrastinated enough time to:

-Go do the sink full of dishes (I miss my dishwasher!)

-Prep food for tomorrow

-Fold 4 baskets of laundry. Don’t judge!

-Wash sheets

-Bathe kids

-Do office work

SEEEEE!?! Lets see what actually gets done.

How do you get more done around the house?
